My Favorite Monsters: "Gelatinous Cube"
Tuesday May 05, 2020
Tuesday May 05, 2020
Exploring the 1st and 5th edition monster manuals from Ankheg to Xorn.
The first formal “Monster Manual” for Dungeons and Dragons was published in 1977, and the hobby has grown considerably from what it was forty years ago. This podcast traces the history of the monsters as they evolved between the two publications, noting what has changed and what has stayed constant.
This particular episode focuses on the Gelatinous Cube, that grotesque shambling blob of acid goop, and how it’s described in the 1st and 5th edition monster manuals, how you can use it in your games, and what interesting things new writers are doing with it.
Our logo was drawn by Evlyn Moreau and the intro and outro music is “Monsters” by Jason Ajemain and the The Highlife.

Monsters and Villains: "Deacon Carswell, the Creeper"
Friday May 01, 2020
Friday May 01, 2020
Interviews with masked criminals and how they were defeated by some meddling kids.
Every week I interview someone who committed a crime while wearing a mask. I speak to them to learn who they are, why they did it, and how their plan was eventually foiled by a team of meddling kids and their dog. Produced in collaboration with Coolsville State Penitentiary.
For my first interview I have the opportunity to speak to Deacon Carswell, otherwise known as the Creeper. He was the President of the Coolsville Second National Bank until it was revealed he had been stealing from the safe. What kind of person is Mr. Carswell, and why would he do this? We’ll find out.
